Definition of the Fakir Asnaf

The Fakir Asnaf refers to a Muslim who has no wealth or income, or has wealth or income but it does not reach 50 percent of the minimum subsistence needed for themselves and their dependents.

Defiinition of Asnaf Gharimin

Gharimin refers to Muslims who are in debt to meet their basic personal or family needs, or for the benefit of the community, and who are unable to repay it.

Muslims who incur debt to cover essential needs for themselves or their dependents, or those who take on debt to resolve community issues, and who require assistance:

  1. The debtor is unable to repay the debt.

  2. The debt must be for a permissible and lawful (syarak-approved) purpose.

  3. The debt has reached its due date for repayment.
