Zakat Selangor Cares: LZS Collaborates with PDRM to Distribute Food Baskets

PETALING JAYA, 22 July 2021 – The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has allocated RM100,000 worth of zakat in the form of food baskets under the Zakat Selangor Peduli assistance initiative. These baskets will be distributed in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 1,000 food baskets will be distributed through District Police Headquarters (IPD) to individuals identified as having food shortages, based on information from various sources.

Each basket, valued at RM100, contains essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, sardines, and various dry goods.

Today, 150 food baskets were handed over to the Petaling Jaya IPD by LZS’s Head of Asnaf Distribution Operations Division, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, to the Petaling Jaya IPD Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

In the same development, LZS also donated 20 wheelchairs to Vaccination Centers (PPV) and food supplies to frontline workers and volunteers at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Civic Hall.

This gesture reflects LZS’s support and concern for the frontline workers who are working hard to ensure the vaccination program runs smoothly.

Previously, LZS had donated 20 wheelchairs to the UiTM Hospital, appointed as a mega PPV, and distributed 2,000 food packs over a month to the public who tested positive for COVID-19 at the COVID-19 Assessment Center in Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam.

On 2 July, LZS announced an allocation of RM69.3 million to implement 19 Zakat Selangor Peduli assistance initiatives, benefiting 59,322 recipients and 431 institutions in Selangor.
