SHAH ALAM, 8 April 2022 – The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has distributed RM2.0 million to 492 mosques and surau as part of the State of Selangor’s Ihya’ Ramadan Program for Mosques and Surau.

According to LZS Chief Executive Officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, of the total, 262 mosques will each receive contributions of up to RM5,000, while 230 surau will receive contributions of up to RM3,000 to support activities throughout Ramadan.

“Mosques and surau have been among the institutions affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) during more than two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the zakat funds are expected to help mosques and surau revive religious programs in their local communities during this month,” he said.

Also present at the symbolic handover ceremony was the Director of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
