SHAH ALAM, 12 April 2021 – The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today began distributing RM28,032,900 in zakat aid to 61,315 beneficiaries among the fakir, poor, and mualaf asnaf across Selangor to help them prepare for the upcoming Ramadan and Hari Raya this year.
The symbolic handover of aid was carried out by Deputy Mufti of Selangor, Dato’ Dr Anhar Opir, to 10 beneficiaries among the fakir, poor, and mualaf asnaf during the 2021 LZS Ramadan and Raya Aid Handover Ceremony here.
From the total amount, RM8,667,350 was distributed to 17,787 fakir asnaf, RM18,079,900 to 39,445 miskin asnaf, and RM1,285,650 to 4,083 mualaf asnaf.
Each recipient received zakat aid ranging from RM300 to RM1,000, depending on the number of dependents in the family. The aid was delivered either through bank transfer, V-Cash (cash vouchers), or direct cash handover.
Eligible recipients were informed via SMS or letter. Asnaf can also check their 2021 Ramadan and Raya Aid status at ezo.zakatselangor.com.my or by contacting the Selangor Zakat Hotline at 1-300-88-4343.
This year, Klang district recorded the highest number of recipients with 11,962 asnaf receiving RM5,183,300, followed by Petaling district with 10,590 recipients receiving RM4,927,850, and Hulu Langat district distributing RM4,367,750 to 9,439 recipients.
Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor district distributed RM3,034,500 to 6,798 recipients, Gombak district distributed RM2,740,400 to 6,005 recipients, and Hulu Selangor district distributed RM2,367,400 to 5,186 recipients.
Three other districts reported the following distributions: Kuala Langat district with 4,832 recipients receiving RM2,227,500, Sabak Bernam district with 4,726 recipients receiving RM1,997,600, and Sepang district distributing RM1,186,600 to 2,547 fakir, poor, and mualaf recipients.
