SHAH ALAM, 25 August 2021 – A total of 1,000 Tahfiz centre teachers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will be assisted by Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) through the Zakat Selangor Cares initiative.

In addition, LZS will also provide appropriate aid to 250 Tahfiz institutions registered under the Selangor State Quranic Tahfiz Institutions Association (PITAS).

Currently, information regarding the Tahfiz centres is being collected in collaboration with PITAS to enable assistance to be distributed according to the specified rates and eligibility criteria.

Recently, the media reported that unpaid tuition fees of Tahfiz students in Selangor have reached RM8 million. This has indirectly caused Tahfiz centres to be unable to pay teachers’ salaries, utility bills, building rents, and other related expenses.
