SHAH ALAM, 9 April 2020 – The zakat fitrah rate for Muslims in Selangor for Ramadan 2021, corresponding to 1442 Hijrah, is set at RM7.00 per person, the same as the previous year (2020). This follows the approval of the Selangor State Fatwa Committee, which has maintained the same fitrah rate for this year in Selangor.
The RM7.00 zakat fitrah rate is based on the price of 2.6 kilograms of local Grade A Super rice, which is commonly consumed by the community in Selangor.
However, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) also encourages those who are able to pay zakat fitrah according to the price of rice they consume daily for themselves and their dependents. This provides an opportunity to perform good deeds and gain blessings during the month of Ramadan.
The zakat fitrah rates are as follows: RM14.00 per person for those consuming imported white rice, brown rice, glutinous rice, Ponni herb rice, or fragrant rice, and RM21.00 per person for those consuming basmati, Japanese, or red rice.
For reference, the encouragement to pay zakat fitrah according to the type of rice consumed has been implemented by LZS since 2018.
To facilitate Muslims in Selangor in paying not only zakat fitrah but also zakat on wealth during Ramadan, LZS has provided various faster and safer online payment platforms.
The public can make zakat payments online through:
- EZakatPay via https://fpx.zakatselangor.com.my
- Internet banking
- MyEg portal
- Pos Online
- E-wallet applications GoPayz and Boost
In addition, LZS has also placed QR codes at selected locations to make it easier for the public to access the EzakatPay online payment platform directly.
