SHAH ALAM, 28 March 2022 – The Zakat Fitrah rate in the State of Selangor for this year’s Ramadan has been set at RM7.00 per person.
The RM7.00 rate is based on the price for 2.6 kilograms of Grade A local Super rice, which is commonly consumed by the people of Selangor.
However, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) highly encourages those who are financially able to pay Zakat Fitrah according to the type of rice they consume daily for themselves and their dependents. Indirectly, this allows us to perform greater acts of goodness and reap the blessings of Ramadan.
The Zakat Fitrah rate is RM14.00 per person for those consuming imported white/brown/glutinous/herba ponni/fragrant rice, or RM21.00 per person for those consuming basmati/Japanese/red rice.
For your information, this encouragement to pay Zakat Fitrah according to the type of rice consumed has been implemented by LZS since 2018.

In addition, LZS has appointed 2,745 head and assistant Fitrah collectors throughout Selangor to collect Zakat Fitrah during this Ramadan. Muslims are advised to pay Zakat Fitrah only to collectors appointed by LZS, who are provided with identification cards and follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) throughout the process.
