SHAH ALAM, 7 November 2024 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today launched the Zakat Aulad Club (ZAC), a dakwah initiative aimed at fostering zakat awareness among the younger generation in collaboration with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).
The launch ceremony was officiated by LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, in front of more than 100 students and teachers from Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi (SRAI) in Selangor.
ZAC is an exclusive club program introduced to primary and secondary school students, with the goal of educating and raising awareness about the importance of zakat among the youth.
The club serves as an educational platform to explore the basic aspects of zakat, including its conditions, requirements, and role in supporting asnaf, while also fostering young people’s understanding of Islamic social values and the zakat distribution process in building a balanced society.
Initially, ZAC will be introduced in 11 SRAI schools before being officially expanded to other schools under JAIS starting in 2025.
ZAC continues LZS’s efforts to promote zakat education among students through the Selangor Zakat Education Module introduced in 2022 in collaboration with JAIS. This initiative to instill zakat awareness through education represents a long-term strategy by LZS to nurture a zakat-literate generation by fostering early awareness among students who will become zakat contributors in the future.
Also present at the event were Deputy Director of Operations of JAIS, Salwana Ahmad Dahlan, and LZS Chief Operating Officer, Ahmad Fadhil Hassan.
