Sultan of Selangor Graciously Receives Business & Income Zakat of RM64.97 Million
KLANG, 2 September 2025 – His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today graciously received business and income zakat totaling RM64,974,554.60 from 13 corporate companies and one individual through Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) in a ceremony at Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), represented by Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mustakim Mohamad, led the list of corporate zakat payers by contributing RM28.01 million, making it the largest corporate contributor to LZS this year.
This was followed by Cyberview Sdn Bhd, represented by Chief Executive Officer Kamarul Ariffin, paying RM5.43 million, and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, amounting to RM4.57 million, submitted by Global Business Solutions Chief Officer, Datuk Ir. Azmi Md Yusof.
Meanwhile, Kumpulan Gas Malaysia Berhad, represented by Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, contributed RM3.50 million, and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, represented by its Chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak, contributed RM3.42 million in business zakat.
Other corporate contributors included PLUS Berhad, represented by Managing Director Datuk Airina Nik Jaffar, contributing RM2.60 million; Kumpulan Proton, paying RM3.19 million; Kumpulan DRB-HICOM, contributing RM2.45 million, both represented by Group CEO Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar Syed A.R. Albar.
Meanwhile, Northport (Malaysia) Berhad, represented by Director Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, contributed RM1.64 million, followed by Maybank Islamic Berhad, represented by Chief Finance Officer Malique Sidique, contributing RM1.60 million, and Kumpulan Etiqa Takaful, represented by CEO Zafri Abdul Halim, contributing RM1.50 million.
At the same time, Kumpulan Peladang Kebangsaan (NAFAS), represented by General Manager Muhammad Faris Ariffin, contributed RM1.0 million, and Edgenta Infrastructure Services Sdn Bhd, represented by Managing Director Raihana Ahmad, contributed RM1.0 million.
Meanwhile, individual corporate contributor Datuk Kamarudin Meranun also paid income zakat of RM5.07 million.
Also present at the ceremony were Chairman of Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS), Senator Dato’ Setia Salehuddin Saidin; LZS Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail; Deputy Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Ambrin Buang; and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Khaidzir Shahari.
Mohd Khaidzir said that these substantial contributions directly benefit more than 350,000 zakat recipients in Selangor through various welfare and socio-economic development programs. “We highly appreciate the commitment of corporate companies and individuals who continue to use LZS as the main channel for zakat payments. These contributions will be utilized to strengthen the development agenda for asnaf, while supporting the well-being of Selangor’s community,” he said.
