SUBANG JAYA, 5 December 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today launched the “Share Your Blessings with 2.5%” campaign, running from 15 November to 31 December, to encourage and facilitate Muslims in fulfilling their zakat obligations before the end of the year.

The campaign, themed “A Little for You, Everything for Them”, aims to invite all eligible Muslims to join LZS in helping asnaf in need.

Through this campaign, asnaf in Selangor will be able to sustain their livelihoods amid post-COVID-19 challenges and develop themselves and their families. To date, LZS has assisted over 67,000 fakir, miskin, and mualaf families in Selangor.

The launch ceremony was officiated by LZS Chief Executive Officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini during the Share Your Blessings with the Community Programme held at Masjid Darul Ehsan here.

The campaign seeks to raise awareness and understanding among the public that paying zakat is simple and not burdensome, as it only requires 2.5% of one’s income or wealth.

Facilities to fulfill zakat obligations have been diversified to provide options for contributors. Zakat can be paid at LZS branches, open 7 days a week throughout December, or via online channels such as the ZakatSelangor app, EZakatPay, internet banking, e-wallet applications, MYEG portal, and online mail.

Additionally, contributors who pay zakat through various payment channels from 1 to 31 December are eligible to join the “Share Your Blessings & Win” contest and stand a chance to win attractive prizes.

During the same event, LZS also symbolically handed over RM77.7 million under Zakat Selangor Peduli, covering 10 assistance initiatives.
