SHAH ALAM, 17 August 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today sent nine mualaf (new Muslim) participants representing the State of Selangor to take part in the National-Level Mahrajan Amal Islami for Mualaf, which will be held at the Malaysian Islamic Training Institute, East Coast Region (ILTIM), Besut, Terengganu, from 18 to 19 August 2022.
The send-off ceremony was officiated by the Head of the Asnaf Development Division, Dr. Adibah Abdul Wahab, in a simple event held here.
This year, LZS participants will compete in Qur’anic recitation (tilawah), memorisation (hafazan), the call to prayer (azan), and public speaking (syarahan). They will be assessed on the understanding of Islamic knowledge among new Muslims, covering aspects of the Qur’an, Hadith, creed (aqidah), ethics (akhlak), and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). The participants were selected after going through the Kemahiran Amal Islami Muallaf (KAMIL) programme at the district level, which involved students from mualaf Fardhu Ain classes.
For information, the Mahrajan programme is an annual event that brings together participants from various ethnic backgrounds who have embraced Islam from all over Malaysia, with the aim of empowering them through Islamic education (tarbiyah Islamiyyah).
Now in its fourth year, the programme is an initiative of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) to train our brothers and sisters to become professional, dynamic, and high-calibre da‘i (Islamic preachers), capable of facing the challenges ahead as future preachers.
