KUALA LANGAT, 28 March 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today received a business zakat payment from McDonald’s Malaysia amounting to RM600,000 in a ceremony held here.
The business zakat payment was handed over by McDonald’s Malaysia’s Vice President of Human Resources and Chairman of the Internal Halal Committee, Azhar Darbi, to the Head of the Collection Division, Muhd Fikri Naim Harun.
In addition to the business zakat payment, McDonald’s Malaysia also contributed a wakalah distribution to 50 selected families from the Kuala Langat district who were affected by floods at the end of last year. Each family received contributions worth RM500 in the form of cash and vouchers.
According to Muhd Fikri, “LZS greatly hopes for continuous contributions from corporate companies like McDonald’s Malaysia to support the welfare of asnaf (zakat recipients) in Selangor. Especially as the number of poor and needy families is expected to rise due to the current economic situation. This indirectly means that the need for zakat distribution will also increase in line with the growing number of asnaf in Selangor.”
Also present at the ceremony was the Royal Grand Mufti of Selangor, Dato’ Dr. Anhar Opir.
