KLANG, 22 November 2021 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today received business zakat payments totaling RM20,058,447.49 from seven corporate companies, presented to His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, at a ceremony held at Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
UMW Holdings Berhad, represented by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Mohd Kenali, contributed RM4,293,859.00 for the 2020 financial year. This was followed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad, represented by its Chairman, Dato’ Sri Hassan Ariffin, contributing RM3,933,133.49 for the 2020 financial year.
Gas Malaysia Berhad, represented by Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, contributed RM3,500,000.00 for 2020, followed by Pharmaniaga Berhad, represented by its Chairman, Dato’ Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, contributing RM3,500,000.00 for 2021. Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, represented by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development & Cooperatives, Tan Sri Noh Omar, contributed RM2,077,455.00 for 2020.
Meanwhile, Northport (Malaysia) Berhad, represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, contributed RM1,954,000.00 for 2020. The Board of Land Surveyors Malaysia also contributed RM1,000,000.00 for 2021, presented by its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sr. Ismail Harun.
The zakat handover ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof; LZS Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail; and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Saipolyazan M. Yusop.
