SHAH ALAM, 20 December 2023 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) is optimistic about achieving its targeted business zakat collection of RM167 million for this year.
As of November 2023, RM117 million has been collected through business zakat, bringing the total zakat collection to RM791 million.
Earlier today, LZS received business zakat from 35 companies totaling RM19,594,783.12 in a ceremony held at Wisma PKPS here.
Cyberview Sdn. Bhd. led the list of companies contributing business zakat with RM3,194,730.00, followed by Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia (Bank Rakyat) contributing RM2,680,968.00, and CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad contributing RM1,500,000.00.
Other companies that also paid business zakat include KMF Network Sdn. Bhd. with RM1,200,000.00, Persatuan Nelayan Kebangsaan (NEKMAT) with RM1,192,528.00, and KDEB Waste Management Sdn. Bhd. with RM1,033,561.74.
During the same ceremony, LZS also distributed various types of zakat assistance totaling RM51,099,281.63.
Meanwhile, five companies received the Muzakki Recognition (IKTIRAF) as a token of appreciation for partnering with LZS to support asnaf through their commitment to paying zakat.
IKTIRAF was introduced at the end of 2021 as LZS’s recognition of corporate companies’ loyalty in paying business zakat and employers committed to implementing the SPG for their staff. Since its introduction, over 200 companies have received this IKTIRAF award.
Also present were LZS Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini.
