SHAH ALAM, 6 January 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) is providing post-flood assistance to ease the burden of asnaf fakir and poor families affected by the major floods in Selangor last year.
According to LZS Chief Executive Officer, Saipolyazan M. Yusop, “This house repair and reconstruction assistance is part of the existing aid scheme for asnaf fakir and poor families in Selangor, as outlined in the Zakat Distribution Eligibility Guidelines.”
“At this stage, LZS technical officers will assess the damage to the homes of asnaf before assistance is distributed and repair works can be carried out, based on the stipulated eligibility criteria.”
In the same development, LZS contributed RM100,000 to the Tabung Dana Wakaf al-Quran Selangor (Post-Flood) launched by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) yesterday, aimed at replacing Qurans damaged during the floods in mosques and suraus.
“In addition, LZS is reviewing applications from JAIS for the disposal process of damaged Quran copies,” he added.
Besides post-flood aid, LZS recently approved RM600 in assistance for 22,500 flood victims in Selangor.
