SHAH ALAM, 6 August 2022 – The Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) ‘Jom Kerja’ Career Carnival, held today in collaboration with the Social Security Organization (PERKESO) 2022, offered over 6,000 job opportunities involving 30 employers from various employment sectors.

This one-day carnival specifically targeted job seekers among productive fakir, miskin, and mualaf asnaf registered with LZS. It provided a platform for asnaf to increase their income through job vacancies and employment matching with employers across sectors including services, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, automotive, and food and beverage.

In addition, a ‘Career Talk: Bangkit Asnaf’ session was held to enhance asnaf job seekers’ understanding and knowledge about employability, helping them transform themselves and move out of the asnaf category.

For information, LZS’s career initiatives are part of the Asnaf Development Blueprint, designed to help zakat recipients rise above the poverty line and improve their lives until they are able to contribute zakat themselves.

To support this initiative, LZS collaborated with PERKESO through a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) to provide targeted groups with comprehensive social security protection via the Social Synergy Program.

This includes strategic partnerships with potential agencies to assist in employment matching and placement for asnaf. LZS also provides services to PERKESO such as sharing asnaf data for social security assistance, and channeling prospects for the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) contributions to asnaf who are self-employed.

Also present were PERKESO State Director Mustafa Draman and LZS Deputy Head of Asnaf Development Division, Mohd Nurhisyam Shamsir.
