LZS Donates RM255,000 in Zakat Contributions to Hospitals and Elderly Care Centers

SELAYANG, 16 April 2021 – The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today handed over zakat contributions totaling RM255,000 to six hospitals and five elderly care centers during the Hospital-Friendly Worship Fund Handover Ceremony and Ramadan Bakul Qaseh Launch here.

The six hospitals are Selayang Hospital, Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Ampang Hospital, Shah Alam Hospital, Serdang Hospital, and Sungai Buloh Hospital, each receiving RM10,000 in zakat contributions, totaling RM60,000.

These contributions will be used to carry out activities such as religious training for patients, family members, and hospital nurses, counseling for patients, and other religious activities under the Hospital-Friendly Worship Program.

Meanwhile, five elderly care centers also received zakat contributions in the form of grants: Al-Fikrah Care Center, Siti Noraini Care Center, and Mahmudah Care Center each received RM50,000, Nurhasanah Care Center received RM25,000, and Penyayang Hani Welfare Center received RM20,000.

These contributions aim to support their operations and activities, especially given the current pandemic situation.

For information, in 2020, LZS contributed RM1.3 million in annual grants to elderly care homes, registered Islamic NGOs, and orphanages under the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS).

In the same development, LZS launched the Ramadan Bakul Qaseh Program to enhance the spirit of this holy month. A total of 3,000 iftar meal packs will be distributed at three selected hospitals throughout Ramadan, namely Selayang Hospital, Serdang Hospital, and University of Malaya Medical Centre.

This program is an annual initiative by LZS during Ramadan to support hospital staff and families by distributing iftar meals, which also serves as a platform for LZS’s da’wah activities in the community.

Also present at the event were Director of the Selangor State Health Department, Dato’ Indera Dr. Sha’ari Ngadiman, Deputy Director of Selayang Hospital, Dr. Tengku Intan Norleen Tengku Sharif, and Chairman of the LZS Medical Advisory Committee, Tunku Dato’ Dr. Muzafar Shah Tunku Jaafar, along with Head of LZS Asnaf Distribution Operations Division, Abdul Basith Hamid.
