JENJAROM, 7 November 2023 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) distributed RM34.25 million through the Special Living Assistance to support 68,500 fakir, miskin, and mualaf asnaf in Selangor. The symbolic handover of the assistance was held in a ceremony at Masjid Al-Falah, Kampung Jenjarom here today.
This zakat distribution serves as additional aid to the existing assistance received by asnaf, aimed at helping with household expenses amid rising prices, thereby alleviating the burden, especially in providing daily necessities.
Of the total, RM12,411,500 was allocated to fakir asnaf involving 24,823 recipients, RM19,619,500 was distributed to 39,239 miskin asnaf, and RM2,219,000.00 was given to 4,438 mualaf asnaf.
Each head of household received a one-off assistance of RM500, credited directly into the recipient’s bank account in phases from 30 October to 10 November 2023. For recipients without a bank account, payment was made via cash vouchers or cash handover at the relevant LZS branches.
During the same ceremony, three mosques and surau in the Kuala Langat district also received contributions for renovations and mosque equipment, totaling RM223,000.
Meanwhile, four fakir and miskin asnaf individuals each received assistance for new house construction, house repairs, and medical aid, with a total zakat assistance amounting to RM241,471.
The symbolic handover of the assistance was presented by the Kuala Langat District Chief, Dato’ Mohamed Al-Haj Tengku Harun, and LZS Chief Operating Officer, Ahmad Fadhil Hassan. Also present was LZS Deputy Head of Asnaf Distribution Operations Division, Md Yusmizan Yusuf.
