GOMBAK, 21 March 2023 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today began distributing zakat aid totaling RM30,069,600 to 64,819 heads of fakir, miskin, and mualaf families across Selangor to help them make early preparations for the arrival of Ramadan and Syawal this year.
The symbolic handover of aid was carried out by LZS Board of Trustees member, Dato’ Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid, to 10 recipients in conjunction with the 2023 Ramadan and Hari Raya Aid Program held at the Main Hall of Gombak Vocational College, Selangor.
Of the total amount, RM9,051,650 was distributed to 18,550 fakir asnaf, while RM19,399,050 was distributed to 41,770 miskin asnaf, and RM1,618,900 was distributed to 4,499 mualaf asnaf.
Each recipient received zakat aid ranging from RM300 to RM1,000 depending on the number of dependents in the family. The aid began to be disbursed today either through bank transfers, cash vouchers, or direct cash handover.
Eligible recipients were notified via SMS or letter. In addition, they could also check the status of their aid online at ezo.zakatselangor.com.my.
Petaling district recorded the highest zakat distribution, with RM5,593,750 allocated to 11,799 fakir, miskin, and mualaf asnaf. This was followed by Klang district, with RM5,447,950 distributed to 11,743 asnaf, and Hulu Langat district, which allocated RM4,433,400 to 9,415 asnaf.
Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor district distributed RM3,178,950 to 6,979 asnaf, followed by Gombak district with RM3,161,250 to 6,775 asnaf, and Hulu Selangor district with RM2,454,550 to 5,445 asnaf.
Three other districts, namely Sabak Bernam, recorded 4,956 asnaf receiving RM2,183,400, followed by Kuala Langat with 4,708 asnaf receiving RM2,235,100, and Sepang with RM1,381,250 distributed to 2,999 fakir, miskin, and mualaf asnaf.
In February, LZS also disbursed RM32,615,896.00 in zakat allocations to fund school preparations for 67,798 children of fakir, miskin, and mualaf asnaf for the 2023 school session.
Also present were Gombak District Chief, Dato’ Paduka Raja Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Wan Mahmood Pawan Teh, and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini.
