KLANG, 13 July 2022 – A total of 13 cows and four goats were sacrificed in the 2022 Grand Qurban Program in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) Anak-Anak Asnaf Complex, known as Bait Al-Hasanah, here today.

The sacrifices were contributions from zakat contributors Medkad Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian Petronas Management Association, and individual donors. The meat will be distributed to 300 fakir and miskin asnaf across the Klang, Petaling, and Kuala Langat districts, with each family receiving two kilograms of qurban meat.

In addition to fulfilling the religious obligation and supporting underprivileged communities, the program aims to strengthen the relationship between LZS and zakat contributors through community activities, particularly involving zakat recipients in Selangor.

The program also received support from Medkad staff, Petronas Management, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), and the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), who collaborated in slaughtering, cutting, and cooking the qurban meat.

During the program, LZS and the contributors also visited three fakir and miskin families in nearby areas to share the realities of asnaf life, while delivering qurban meat and dry goods.

For information, the Grand Qurban Program has been implemented since 2017, and this marks the second program held after nearly two years under the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also present at the program were LZS Deputy Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Haji Ambrin bin Buang, and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin bin Mohd Sarbini.
