SUNGAI BESAR, 2 November 2023 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today distributed zakat assistance totaling RM1,975,133.64 in a ceremony held here, involving surau and mosques, schools, and individual asnaf in Sabak Bernam.

Of this amount, RM707,255.64 was allocated to 17 mosques and surau for construction/renovation assistance and provision of religious institution equipment.

Meanwhile, 19 schools, including national primary and secondary schools, religious primary schools, and KAFA Integrasi schools, also received construction and renovation assistance totaling RM837,878.00.

Additionally, 10 individual asnaf fakir and miskin each received RM43,000.00 for house renovations, bringing the total zakat assistance to RM430,000.00.

All assistance was presented by LZS Trustee Member, Dato’ Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid. Also present were the District Chief of Sabak Bernam, Dr. Farid Ardas Ismail, District Officer, Amri Ismail, and District Islamic Religious Officer, Mohammed Mekkah Hussein. Also attending was LZS Deputy Head of Asnaf Distribution Operations Division, Md Yusmizan Yusuf.

In other developments, LZS collaborated with the District Education Office (PPD) to identify families of students in need who have not yet received zakat assistance through eligibility screening as asnaf involving schools around Sabak Bernam.

This is to ensure that eligible student families do not miss out on receiving zakat assistance from LZS. Information about these families was collected through online forms distributed by the schools throughout September and October.

To date, LZS has received over 900 responses from parents and guardians to be surveyed under the Poverty Tracing Squad (SJK) program and subsequently registered as fakir and miskin asnaf with LZS.
