SHAH ALAM, 16 July 2021 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) has allocated 2,000 food and beverage packs to be distributed to members of the public who come for health assessments at the COVID-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) at Stadium Melawati for a period of 30 days starting today.
According to LZS Chief Executive Officer, Saipolyazan M. Yusop, the contribution, involving 60,000 units of bread and bottled water, is funded through amil funds and will be distributed daily to members of the public who attend the centre.
“The CAC at Stadium Melawati was selected as it is seen to have a high number of visitors in Selangor. In view of this urgent need, LZS has taken the initiative to provide food and beverage packs to the public. This contribution is one of the assistance initiatives under Zakat Selangor Peduli.”
On 2 July, LZS announced an allocation of RM69.3 million to implement 19 Zakat Selangor Peduli assistance initiatives, benefiting 59,322 recipients and 431 institutions in Selangor.
From that total, RM1.0 million in amil funds has been channeled to support the basic needs of frontline workers who are working tirelessly to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
