SHAH ALAM, 9 November 2021 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) has distributed zakat contributions totaling RM3,740,000.00 to the LZS Patient Welfare Fund across 18 hospitals and medical institutions in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, in two phases of distribution throughout the year.
Through this fund, each hospital and medical institution received zakat contributions ranging from RM40,000.00 to RM300,000.00.
The first phase of contributions was distributed in June 2021, amounting to RM1,770,000.00, while the second phase was disbursed in November 2021, totaling RM1,970,000.00.
The LZS Patient Welfare Fund has been distributed as grants allocated by LZS since 2008. It is part of LZS’s efforts to ease the financial burden of underprivileged Muslim patients who require funding for medical treatments, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The symbolic handover of contributions was officiated by Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, at a ceremony held here.
Among the hospitals receiving contributions were Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, University of Malaya Medical Centre, Sungai Buloh Hospital, Ampang Hospital, Serdang Hospital, Kuala Lumpur Women and Children’s Hospital, Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital, and the National Cancer Institute.
Also present at the event were LZS Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail; Deputy State Health Director (Medical), Dr. Faizal Mat Ariffin; and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Saipolyazan M. Yusop.
