SHAH ALAM, 29 March 2022 – The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today began distributing zakat aid totaling RM28,637,750 to 62,769 recipients among the poor, needy, and mualaf across Selangor, to help them prepare for the upcoming Ramadan and Syawal this year.
The symbolic handover of aid was officiated by the Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, to 20 recipients during the 2022 Ramadan and Syawal Aid Distribution Program held at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah, Bukit Jelutong.
Of the total aid, RM9,063,050 was distributed to 18,630 fakir recipients, RM18,252,400 to 39,955 miskin recipients, and RM1,322,300 to 4,184 mualaf recipients.
Each recipient received zakat aid ranging from RM300 to RM1,000, depending on the number of dependents in their family. Aid began to be distributed today either through crediting the recipients’ bank accounts, cash vouchers, or direct cash handover.
Eligible recipients were notified of the aid via SMS or letters. Additionally, recipients can check their aid status online at ezo.zakatselangor.com.my.
This year, Klang district recorded the highest distribution, with RM5,189,500 allocated to 11,232 recipients. It was followed by Petaling district with RM5,186,200 distributed to 11,186 recipients, and Hulu Langat with RM4,124,050 allocated to 8,832 recipients.
Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor distributed RM3,029,000 to 6,836 recipients, Gombak distributed RM3,026,250 to 6,659 recipients, and Hulu Selangor distributed RM2,443,450 to 5,375 recipients.
Three other districts saw the following distributions: Kuala Langat – RM2,322,500 to 5,044 recipients, Sabak Bernam – RM2,033,250 to 4,832 recipients, and Sepang – RM1,283,550 to 2,773 recipients among the fakir, miskin, and mualaf categories.
