SHAH ALAM, 12 November 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today celebrated 200 assistant amil officers who have shown commitment and contributed to facilitating zakat collection and supporting the asnaf community at the Selangor Chief and Assistant Amil Awards 2021.

The honorees consist of chief and assistant amil officers for kariah, padi, and fitrah, appointed by LZS across nine districts to assist in zakat collection and distribution in Selangor.

A total of 88 recipients received awards in five categories during the event. The five categories are: Best Chief Assistant Amil Kariah Award, Best Assistant Amil Kariah Award, Best Chief Assistant Amil Fitrah Award, Best Assistant Amil Fitrah Award, and Best Assistant Amil Padi Award.

Each award recipient received cash, a certificate of appreciation, and a plaque, with the recipients chosen based on the 2021 Annual Performance Evaluation conducted by LZS.

For the record, LZS currently has 1,926 assistant amil kariah officers, 2,747 assistant amil fitrah officers, and 24 assistant amil padi officers across Selangor. They serve as intermediaries and facilitators between LZS and the community, especially in matters involving the kariah.

Also present were LZS Board of Trustees Member Dato’ Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid, Senior Assistant Director of Mosque Management Division, Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Mohamad Khair Zainal, and LZS Chief Executive Officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini.
