KUALA LANGAT, 28 January 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) has allocated RM7.5 million to assist 150 mosques, suraus, and religious schools in Selangor that were severely affected by the floods last December.
Through this post-flood allocation, each mosque, surau, and religious school will receive zakat contributions of up to RM50,000 to replace damaged carpets, mosque equipment, school furniture, and textbooks destroyed during the floods.
The symbolic handover of the aid was officiated by LZS Chief Executive Officer, Saipolyazan M. Yusop, to Deputy Director (Operations) of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Salwana Ahmad Dahlan, during a ceremony held here today.
To date, 76 mosques and suraus and 34 religious schools that sustained damage and require maintenance have been identified.
During the same ceremony, LZS also delivered furniture donations, including chairs and student desks, to KAFA Integrasi Rancangan Tanah Belia (RTB) Bukit Changgang, as well as carpet purchases for Masjid Ar-Rahmah, Bukit Changgang.
For information, a total of RM37.17 million in zakat funds has been allocated for emergency assistance and post-flood aid.
