SABAK BERNAM, 16 January 2025 – The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has allocated zakat funds amounting to RM36,436,840 (RM36.4 million) to cover school preparation costs for 70,588 children of poor, needy, and convert asnaf for the 2025 school session.
This covers all student levels, including 1,119 preschoolers, 33,117 primary school students (National and Religious Primary Schools), and 36,292 secondary school students (National and Religious Secondary Schools).
The symbolic handover was officiated by LZS Board of Trustees member, Dato’ Paduka Emeritus Prof. Dr. Muhamad Awang, at an event held here today.
The school aid initiative is an annual effort to ease the financial burden of asnaf family heads registered with LZS, particularly in providing school supplies and covering tuition fees, ensuring the educational welfare of asnaf children in Selangor is well supported.
Each National Primary School student will receive school supplies worth RM170, while students in Religious Primary Schools will receive RM150. For National and Religious Secondary School students, the aid amounts to RM200 per student.
The school supplies include uniforms, bags, stationery, and other essentials. Each student is required to purchase one set of school uniform, with the remaining funds used to buy other necessary items according to the conditions and guidelines set.
From 18 January to 17 April 2025, recipients can redeem their aid at designated supermarkets appointed by LZS in their respective districts.
Each student will also receive school fee assistance ranging from RM100 to RM250, depending on their school level. In addition, an extra RM100 is provided to all students to cover other school-related expenses.
On average, each family will receive up to RM2,000 in assistance, depending on the number of dependents in the household.
The aid is disbursed through three payment methods: credit to the family head’s bank account, cash vouchers (V-Cash), or cash.
Also present at the event were LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, and LZS Chief Operating Officer, Ahmad Fadhil Hassan.
