HULU LANGAT, 8 February 2024 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) has allocated zakat distribution funds amounting to RM33,414,415 (RM33.4 million) to finance school preparations for 70,283 children of poor, needy, and mualaf asnaf for the 2024 session.
This covers all student age groups, including 1,235 preschool students, 32,708 National Primary/Religious Primary School students, and 36,340 National Secondary/Religious Secondary School students.
The symbolic handover was officiated by the Mufti of Selangor, Dato’ Setia Professor Madya Dr. Anhar Opir, at a ceremony held here today.
The school assistance is a routine annual aid aimed at alleviating the financial burden of asnaf heads of households registered with LZS, particularly in providing school supplies and covering tuition fees for their children.
Each National Primary School student will receive school supplies worth RM170.00, and Religious Primary School students will receive RM150.00 each. Meanwhile, National Secondary or Religious Secondary School students will receive RM200.00 each.
The school supplies include uniforms, equipment such as bags, stationery, and other essentials. Each student is required to purchase one school uniform set, and the remaining funds are to be used for other school needs according to the terms and guidelines provided.
Recipients can visit designated supermarkets set by LZS in their respective districts to redeem the aid based on the allocated amount, from 10 February to 10 May 2024.
For recipients in the Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, and Sepang districts, school supplies can be redeemed online at www.terasds.com. The school items will be delivered directly to the homes of asnaf through a courier service. This is a collaboration between LZS and Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf Sdn Bhd (TERAS).
In addition, each student will receive school fee assistance ranging from RM100 to RM250, depending on their level of schooling. An additional RM100 will be provided to all students to cover other school-related expenses.
The aid is distributed through three payment methods: credited to the bank account of the head of the household, V-Cash vouchers at any Bank Islam branch, or cash for specific cases.
On average, each family will receive aid according to the maximum number of dependents, up to RM2,000 per family.
Also present at the ceremony were LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, and LZS Chief Operating Officer, Ahmad Fadhil Hassan.
