LZS Allocates RM1.0 Million in Amil Operational Funds to Support Medical Institutions and Frontline Workers

SERDANG, 20 September 2021 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) has allocated a total of RM1,000,000.00 from amil operational funds to assist public medical institutions and frontline workers in Selangor in managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to LZS Chief Executive Officer, Saipolyazan M. Yusop, “This contribution uses amil operational funds under one of the Zakat Selangor Cares assistance initiatives. It reflects the support and concern of zakat officers in Selangor to help medical institutions stay prepared in handling the spread of COVID-19.”

He made the statement during the Zakat Selangor Cares Handover Ceremony for Frontline Workers and COVID-19 Hospitals at Serdang Hospital today.

During the ceremony, LZS handed over RM800,000.00 to 12 hospitals for the purchase of COVID-19 equipment. The contribution was presented to the Selangor State Health Director, Dato’ Indera Dr. Sha’ari Ngadiman.

Saipolyazan added, “Each hospital received between RM30,000.00 and RM100,000.00 depending on its needs. The funds will be used to purchase COVID-19 essentials such as beds, mattresses, wheelchairs, respiratory aids, oxygen tanks, and more.”

Among the hospitals receiving contributions, Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Selayang, and Hospital Ampang each received RM100,000.00. Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah and Hospital Serdang received RM90,000.00 each, while Hospital UiTM received RM80,000.00. Hospital Shah Alam, Hospital Kajang, and Hospital Banting received RM50,000.00 each, and Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu, Hospital Tanjong Karang, and Hospital Sabak Bernam each received RM30,000.00.

Previously, LZS had disbursed part of the RM1,000,000.00 amil operational fund allocation to relevant agencies. Recipients included the Integrated COVID-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), which received dry food and women’s necessities; the COVID-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) at Stadium Melawati, which received food and beverage packs and plastic chairs for frontline workers and the public; the Bestari Jaya Vaccination Centre (PPV) for PPV upgrades; and the Petaling Jaya Civic Hall Vaccination Centre, which received wheelchairs.

On 2 July, LZS announced an allocation of RM69.3 million to implement 19 Zakat Selangor Cares assistance initiatives, benefiting 59,322 recipients and 431 institutions in Selangor.
