Karnival Zakat Selangor: A Platform to Connect with the Community

SHAH ALAM, 28 September 2024 – The 2024 Karnival Zakat Selangor, organized by Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS), officially opened today at Dataran Karnival Stadium Shah Alam, serving as a strategic platform to engage the community and strengthen awareness of zakat through a variety of exciting activities in conjunction with the 30th Pearl Jubilee of LZS.

With more than 120 exhibitors from various companies and agencies, the two-day carnival not only promotes products and services to the public but also introduces the roles and initiatives of LZS. In addition, it provides opportunities for visitors to interact directly with LZS.

Throughout the carnival, visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities such as sales by entrepreneurs, including asnaf entrepreneurs, Rahmah sales, food trucks offering various dishes, an interactive mini zoo, Islamic stage performances, CEO Run, and informative knowledge-sharing sessions. There are also counters for asnaf census and assistance checks, as well as zakat estimation and payment services. Special appearances by mascots Mechamato and Boboiboy will further enliven the carnival.

The public can also enjoy up to 30% discount on fines issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at the carnival.

Meanwhile, the iKerjaya Carnival, which is part of the Karnival Zakat Selangor, offers 3,000 job vacancies from 30 employers across various sectors. It provides career opportunities for job seekers, especially asnaf fakir, miskin, and mualaf registered with LZS, helping them improve their income through openings in services, manufacturing, trade, automotive, and food and beverage sectors.

In the same development, LZS also launched Rakan Affiliate Dakwah Kutipan Zakat (RADIUZ) and CrowdZakat. RADIUZ is an affiliate marketing program initiative introduced to promote LZS products and services.

Meanwhile, CrowdZakat is a zakat model based on the classification of asnaf assistance. It is a platform that allows contributors to pay zakat online and select the type of assistance according to their personal preferences and concern.

Also present were LZS Board of Trustees member, Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Uda Alhaj, LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, LZS Chief Operating Officer, Ahmad Fadhil Hassan, and LZS Chief Financial and Information Technology Officer, Rapizah Muhammad Sharif.
