SHAH ALAM, 24 March 2023 – His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, graciously accepted business zakat amounting to RM10,153,780.84 from five corporate companies during a zakat handover program held in conjunction with the DYMM Sultan of Selangor’s breaking of fast ceremony here today.
Worldwide Holdings Berhad led the list of companies contributing their business zakat, totaling RM2,894,100.00, represented by the Group Chief Executive Officer, Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria, followed by the SIRIM Group, represented by its President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Indera Dr. Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, who contributed RM2,335,855.62.
Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Norita Mohd Sidek, contributed business zakat of RM2,316,185.22, followed by Rafulin Holdings Sdn. Bhd., represented by Managing Director Dato’ Mohamed Raffe K Chekku, contributing RM1,607,640.00, and Sime Darby Property Berhad contributing RM1,000,000.00, represented by Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Ir. Mohamed Sohimin Mohd Alayedin.
During the same event, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) also distributed contributions totaling RM2,414,000.00 to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) for the 2023 Ihya Ramadan Contributions to Mosques and Surau in Selangor. From this amount, 417 mosques will each receive RM2,000, while 1,580 surau will each receive RM1,000 to support activities throughout Ramadan.
His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor also graciously presented Hari Raya contributions to 80 asnaf fakir (destitute), 301 asnaf miskin (poor), and 112 asnaf mualaf (new converts), totaling RM246,500.00. Each recipient received RM500.
Also present were the Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof; the Royal Chief Mufti of Selangor, Dato’ Setia Dr. Anhar Opir; LZS Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail; LZS Deputy Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Ambrin Buang; and LZS Chief Executive Officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini.
