Muhammad Ivan began his journey at Baitus Salam Institution in November 2022, equipped with only a basic understanding of Islam. Like many new converts, he started from the very foundations, learning how to perform prayers, recognising the hijaiyah letters, and progressing patiently through Iqra’, page by page.

Driven by exceptional determination and discipline, Muhammad Ivan dedicated himself fully to learning. Over time, his efforts bore fruit, and he successfully mastered the recitation of the Al-Quran with fluency and confidence. Today, he serves not only as an imam and muazzin at Baitus Salam, but also continues to refine his skills in tarannum recitation through independent learning, drawing inspiration from renowned qari recitations online. What began as interest soon grew into aspiration.

In 2024, that aspiration became reality. With confidence and commitment, Muhammad Ivan participated in the selection process for Selangor’s New Muslim representatives to the National Quran Recitation Competition. Through perseverance and talent, he was selected and went on to achieve Third Place at the Mahrajan Amal Islami Mualaf National Level 2024, a remarkable accomplishment.

Muhammad Ivan’s journey reflects the transformative power of hidayah when nurtured through knowledge, guidance, and sincerity. His story stands as a testament that with the right support and unwavering faith, new beginnings can lead to lives filled with purpose, tranquillity (sakinah) and service to the ummah.
