HULU SELANGOR, 1 September 2022 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) identified a total of 25 families as new asnaf in the Hulu Selangor district during a Skuad Jejak Kemiskinan (SJK) operation recently conducted at two apartment complexes in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung.
Overall, 42 heads of households were investigated and recorded during the operation to assess their needs based on the haddul kifayah benchmark, in collaboration with assistant amil officers and block leaders.
These families were initially identified based on several criteria, such as having a large number of dependents and low household income.
Eligible families will be registered as fakir and miskin asnaf and subsequently supported through zakat assistance, including school fee and educational equipment aid, Ramadan and Hari Raya assistance, as well as other forms of aid depending on the families’ current needs.
The SJK operation is carried out to identify individuals and families eligible for zakat assistance who have yet to receive support from LZS. To date, three such operations have been conducted in the Hulu Selangor district and will continue to be implemented from time to time.
For information, in 2021, a total of 5,084 fakir and miskin asnaf families in the Hulu Selangor district received assistance from Lembaga Zakat Selangor.
