SHAH ALAM, 27 July 2022 – A total of 15 employers received the Muzakki Recognition Award (IKTIRAF) in appreciation of their collaboration with the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) in supporting asnaf through their commitment to paying income zakat via the Salary Deduction Scheme (SPG) during the 2022 Employer Appreciation Ceremony held here.

These employers are companies that implement monthly zakat deductions for their employees, with zakat amounts of RM50,000 and above, ensuring the sustainability of zakat distribution in Selangor.

IKTIRAF was introduced at the end of 2021 as LZS’s recognition of corporate loyalty in paying business zakat and for employers committed to implementing SPG for their staff. Since its introduction, over 200 companies have received the IKTIRAF award.

Additionally, 250 employers representing various private companies, statutory bodies, and government sectors were honored at the 2022 Employer Appreciation Ceremony.

Held in conjunction with Zakat Assessment Month, the event aims to celebrate employers participating in SPG for staff income zakat in Selangor. It also serves as a communication platform between LZS and employers, particularly for improving the management of monthly zakat deductions and disseminating the latest information on zakat management, especially zakat distribution in Selangor.

For information, SPG is the most effective method to encourage zakat payment among Muslims in Selangor. In 2021, a total of 192,524 individuals paid their income zakat via SPG, amounting to RM335.2 million in total zakat collection.
