14 Corporate Companies Pay Zakat Exceeding RM24 Million

SHAH ALAM, 24 February 2023His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, graciously received business zakat contributions from 14 corporate companies to Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) totaling RM24,017,551.11 in a ceremony held at Istana Bukit Kayangan today.

Gas Malaysia Berhad, represented by its Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, led the list of companies by contributing RM3,500,000.00, followed by DRB-HICOM Berhad, represented by Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar Syed A.R Albar, contributing RM2,865,000.00, and Northport Malaysia Berhad, represented by its CEO Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, contributing RM2,642,100.00.

Meanwhile, UMW Holdings Berhad, represented by Group Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman, contributed RM2,197,812.50; Tenaga Nasional Berhad, represented by President and CEO Dato’ Indera Ir. Baharin Din, contributed RM2,050,903.68; CelcomDigi, represented by Chief Human Resources Officer Azmi Ujang, contributed RM1,642,262.00; Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, represented by its Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Zainun Ali, contributed RM1,395,000.00; and QSR Brands (M) Holdings Berhad, represented by Group Chief Financial Officer Mohd Khairul Izzad Mohammed Shamsudin, contributed RM1,321,179.00.

This was followed by contributions from Cyberview (RM1,287,319.00), Nuemera (M) Sdn Bhd (RM1,091,598.50), and Koperasi Kakitangan Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Berhad (RM1,024,376.43). Meanwhile, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd, and KMF Network each contributed RM1,000,000.00 in business zakat.

Also present at the ceremony were Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof and LZS Chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail.
