SHAH ALAM, May 30, 2018 – Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, received business zakat payment from six corporate companies amounting to RM17,841,460.67 at the Breaking Fat with People Ceremony at Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque, Bukit Jelutong here today.
The DRB Hicom Berhad Group topped the list of companies delegating Group Managing Director, Dato ‘Seri Syed Faisal Albar Syed Ali Rethza Albar, paid his business zakat and subsidiaries amounting to RM6,306,775.67, followed by Bank Kerjasama Rakyat (Bank Rakyat) represented by Chairman of Bank Rakyat, Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh amounting to RM4,745,578 and PLUS Malaysia Berhad represented by Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail performing business zakat amounting to RM2,697,757.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) who represented the Chief Executive Officer, Raja Shahreen Raja Othman handed over his business zakat amounting to RM1,891,350, followed by Seriemas Development Sdn Bhd represented by PNB Development Sdn BHD Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Salem Kailany paying zakat amounting to RM1,200,000 and Sime Darby Property Berhad, represented by its Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar handed over his business zakat of RM1,000,000.
At the same occasion, the Selangor Sultan also presented a RM2,500,000 zakat contribution to the Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund at 17 hospitals around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The donation was handed over to the Selangor State Health Department Director, Dato ‘Dr. Khalid Ibrahim.
For information, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has channeled zakat contributions to the Malaysian Patient Welfare Fund since 2008. This contribution is aimed at alleviating the burden of lesser Islamic patients and funding costs for hospitalization.
In addition, the Sultan of Selangor is also pleased to present the contribution of zakat to the imam of terawih prayers during the Ramadan in 1,000 selected surau throughout Selangor amounting to RM2,000,000. This assistance was handed over to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department Director Dato ‘Haris Kasim.
At the same occasion, the Sultan of Selangor was also pleased to present Hari Raya’s contribution to 83 asnaf fakirs, 362 poor asnaf and 44 asnaf mualaf. All of them received a zakat contribution of RM500 each, involving the amount of zakat of RM244,500.
Also present were Dato ‘Menteri Besar Selangor, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council, Dato ‘Setia Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, Dato’ Seri Utama Mufti Selangor, Dato ‘Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid and the Members of the Council State government. Also present, Officer in Charge (Chief Coordinating Officer), Abdul Basith Hamid.
