SHAH ALAM, May 23, 2017 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) distributed RM33,033,720 zakat aid to 46,046 faqr, miskin and mualaf asnaf throughout Selangor in conjunction with the coming of Ramadan and Hari Raya this year.

From that amount, RM10,055,240 was distributed to 13,567 faqr families, while RM21,735,680 was distributed to 29,841 poor families and RM1,242,800 distributed to 2,637 mualaf asnaf.

Every faqr and miskin recipient will receive zakat assistance between RM550 and RM1,000

However, for the monthly financial aid recipients among the faqr and miskin, the amount of Hari Raya aid that was channeled was adjusted with the current monthly financial support received. The coordination of this aid is aimed at completing haddul kifayah for that month for a family. It is to conform to the method of distribution of zakat based on syariah maqasid.

In the meantime, for the mualaf asnaf they will receive RM400 for Hari Raya. Every Hari Raya beneficiary will receive this assistance through a bank account or through a cash delivery at the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aid Delivery Ceremony to Faqr, Poor and Mualaf Asnaf at 19 locations held throughout Selangor from the 20th to the 25th of May.

This year, the Klang district recorded the highest number of beneficiaries of 7,755 faqr, miskin and mualaf asnaf involving allocation of zakat distribution of RM5,626,560. It was followed by the Petaling district with a total of 7,551 people involved with allocation of zakat distribution amounting to RM5,429,770 and Hulu Langat district distributed zakat aid amounting to RM5,042,530 to 7,042 faqr, miskin and mualaf asnaf.

While Kuala Selangor allocates zakat aid amounting to RM3,663,340 to 5,144 recipients, Hulu Selangor districts allocate zakat aid to 4,966 recipients involving allocation of RM3,610,370 and the Sabak Bernam district distributed to 4,111 recipients with zakat distribution of RM2,801,360.

Three other districts, Kuala Langat district, recorded 3,865 recipients receiving Ramadan and Hari Raya assistance with zakat distribution amounting to RM2,801,850, followed by Gombak district with total zakat distribution amounting to RM2,513,620 to 3,442 recipients and Sepang district which recorded total distribution of RM1,498,120 to 2,076 faqr, miskin and mualaf beneficiaries.
