CYBERJAYA, November 25, 2018 – A total of RM33,207,379.00 is allocated by the Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) to 60,420 faqr and miskin asnaf children across Selangor to fund the school preparation for the 2019 session.
School preparation assistance is allocated annually to alleviate the burden of faqr and miskin people, especially in the provision of schooling for their children. It is provided to cover the cost of purchasing equipment and school fees. This assistance involves asnaf children at pre-school level up to secondary school level.
Submission symbolic was completed by Dato ‘Menteri Besar Selangor, Amirudin Shari in the Prime Education Assistance Delivery 2018 here today.
Through the assistance, each primary school and religious primary school will each receive RM150 to cover the school’s tuition fees, while the secondary school students will receive RM250. Meanwhile for preschool students will receive RM100.
In addition, students also received three pairs of clothes and school supplies worth RM230 for primary school students, RM200 for religious primary schools and RM275 for national secondary school students.
These school supplies are available through suppliers appointed by LZS around Selangor by using the MyKad head of the family as a reference. In addition, LZS has also appointed Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf Sdn Bhd (TERAS) to provide 51,744 pairs of school clothes to accommodate the needs of asnaf students in three districts namely Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
In addition, the students also receive additional assistance of RM100 each to accommodate other schooling needs.
On average, each family will receive a total allowance of up to RM2,000 per family. The aid is distributed gradually starting from November 26 in three ways either through a bank account of the head of the family, cash through the LZS program or using the V-Cash (Vaucher Cash) method.
The V-Cash method allows the head of a family who has no bank account to issue zakat aid at any Bank Islam branch. The aid recipients only need to bring an identity card to the Bank Islam branch to enable the withdrawal of money.
The handover ceremony under the Education Development Program begins today and is expected to end on Dec 15 involving 22 programs throughout Selangor.
